A novel approach of improving battery performance. Posted by batterymanufactory.com

A recent study, affiliated UNIST has introduced a novel technology that promises to significantly boost the performance of lithium metal batteries, a promising candidate for the next generation of rechargeable batteries. The study also validates the principle of enhanced battery performance via the real-time in situ observation of charge-discharge cycling. This breakthrough has been led by Professor Hyun-Wook Lee in the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering at UNIST in collaboration with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) in Singapore. Lithium metal batteries are a type of  rechargeable battery that has lithium as an anode. Among a number of different cathode materials, lithium metal has the lowest driving voltage and boasts about 10 times more capacity than conventional graphite anodes. Therefore, it has been gaining much attention as a potential next generation anode material for electric vehicles and large scale energy storage systems

Why we need a polymer lithium-ion battery ? Posted by batterymanufactory.com

Lithium-ion battery (Li-ion) is widely used in the communication and electronics industries as a high-efficiency energy carrier, especially for personal communication tools such as mobile phones and PDAs. It was first widely used in Japan after commercialization in 1992. Especially with the use of mobile phone communication tools, lithium batteries are gradually accepted by the majority of users due to their advantages of light weight, large capacity and environmental protection. However, in the past ten years, with the rapid development of communication technology, mobile phone color screen technology, MMS technology, Bluetooth technology and camera technology have appeared successively, which puts higher requirements on the capacity, volume, weight and electrochemical performance of the battery. Traditional liquid lithium batteries have become increasingly unable to adapt to new demands. The emergence of a new polymer lithium-ion battery (Li-Polymer) caters to t

Overcurrent and short circuit current An overcurrent or short circuit is caused by an unknown cause (when the battery is discharged or the positive and negative electrodes are accidentally touched by metal). To ensure safety, it is necessary to stop the discharge immediately. The principle of the overcurrent protection IC is that when the discharge current is too large or a short circuit occurs, the protection IC will activate the (short circuit) current protection. At this time, the overcurrent detection detects the Rds(on) of the power MOSFET as the induced impedance for monitoring. When the voltage is lowered, the discharge is stopped if it is higher than the predetermined overcurrent detection voltage. Similarly, the overcurrent detection must be provided with a delay time to prevent malfunction when a sudden current flows. Usually, after the overcurrent is generated, if the overcurrent factor can be removed (for example, immediately disconnected from the l

What are the possible reasons for zero voltage or low voltage in polymer lithium batteries? Posted by batterymanufactory.com

What is the cause of zero voltage or low voltage in a polymer lithium battery? The possible reasons are as follows: 1, polymer lithium battery external short circuit, such as a pile of batteries fell to the ground, the tab pole are short-circuited with each other, When the battery is on the cabinet, the positive and negative tab pole are on the same side, etc. 2, the polymer lithium battery internal short circuit, or micro short circuit, such as: Positive and negative pole tab glitch penetrating diaphragm paper touch short circuit, the diaphragm paper does not enclose the tab pole or just level with the tab pole, causing a short circuit, etc. 3, polymer lithium battery tab pole break 4, the tab pole rubber does not expose the packaging film, the tab pole is short-circuited through the aluminum foil of the middle layer of the package. 5, the polymer lithium battery has not ageing formation. The above five points are the possible reasons for the zero volta

What is KC certification? What are the requirements for the factory to pass the KC certification? Posted by batterymanufactory.com

What is KC certification? The KC (Korea Certification) certification mark signifies compliance with Korea’s product safety requirements for electrical and electronic equipment and components that utilise power from AC 50-1000V. The KC certification procedure for products includes the following steps: 1. Application - The application process involves the submission of an application form and product description. In addition, the manufacture must obtain a certificate of registration. 2. Factory inspection - Production equipment and processes are inspected and audited for compliance with applicable safety criteria. 3. Product testing - The product is tested consistent with the requirements of the applicable safety standard(s). 4. EMC testing - The product is tested for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and immunity. 5. Post-certification surveillance - Regular factory inspections and market surveillance are required to verify continued compliance following cer

How to assemble lithium-ion battery pack. Posted by batterymanufactory.com

1. Notice for Assembling Battery Pack Shocks, high temperature, or contacts of sharp edge components should not be allowed in battery pack assembling process. 1.1.Cell connection 1) Direct soldering of wire leads or devices to the cell is strictly prohibited. 2) Lead tabs with pre-soldered wiring shall be spot welded to the cells. Direct soldering may cause damage of components, such as separator and insulator, by heat generation. 1.2.Prevention of short circuit within a li-ion battery pack Enough insulation layers between wiring and the cells shall be used to maintain extra safety protection. The li-ion battery pack shall be structured with no short circuit within the battery pack, which may cause generation of smoke or firing. 1.3.Prohibition of disassembly 1) Never disassemble the cells The disassembling may generate internal short circuit in the cell, which may cause gassing, firing, explosion, or other problems. 2) Electrolyte is harmful LIP battery
